"Seeing Life From God's Eyes"

It was years ago and we were taking our two little girls to the ocean for the very first time.  Growing up in the desert, the most water either of them had ever seen was the pond in the park where we fed the ducks.  As I walked with my toddler on the beach, I waited to hear what she would say as she saw the Pacific Ocean.  She looked out at all the water and then looked up and down the coastline. She must have looked without saying anything for almost 30 seconds; a lifetime in toddler years.   Then she turned to me and simply said, "Where are the ducks?"   It's the Pacific Ocean!  Waves lapping on the beach, sand, shells, and water as far as the eye can see and she wonders where the ducks are!

We are living life at full speed today and many don't even know where they are headed.  We are missing the glory, the complexity, the awe of life that is going on right before our eyes.  Where did the Universe come from?  How was it formed and when?  If God is so good and powerful why is there such evil?  Who is Jesus?   What do you mean when you say that the Bible is the Word of God?   When we look at life from our own limited perspectives we are often left with lots of questions and few satisfying answers.  Beginning September 13 we will start a new series of "life stage" Sunday school classes and worship service messages called, "Seeing Life From God's Eyes".

Why is this so important to you?  A few common sayings come to mind:

Ignorance is not bliss.  In other words, what you don't know can and will hurt you.

You can't see the forest for the trees.  That is, we all will benefit from a "heavenly" perspective.

A false premise leads to faulty conclusions.  A wrong view of life, no matter how sincere, will lead

you down the wrong path.

As Jesus said, "The truth will set you free".  Knowing and acting on truth will bring true freedom in life.

There are two opportunities to help you see life from God's viewpoint.  First, we will be offering  "life stage" Sunday School classes to look more closely and discuss life applications from the following topics:

  • The Bible
  • God
  • Jesus
  • The Holy Spirit
  • Creation
  • Salvation
  • Sanctification
  • Good and Evil
  • The Afterlife
  • The Church
  • The Second Coming

Second, the fall-winter sermon series, "Seeing Life From God's Eyes" will complement the specific tools and practical approaches presented during Sunday School and give us God's perspective on life.   I look forward to viewing life from God's eyes with you as we discover new outlooks on life.
