This Sunday ~
Many of us have heard the story about the birds
and the bees. Have you heard the "modern version" of
the tale? A little boy goes to his father and asks "Daddy, how was
I born?" The father answers: "Well, son, I guess one day you
will need to find out anyway. Your Mom and I first got together in a
chat room on Yahoo. Then I set up a date via e-mail with your Mom
and we met at a cyber-cafe. We sneaked into a secluded room, where your
mother agreed to a download from my hard drive. As soon as I was ready
to upload, we discovered that neither one of us had used a firewall,
and since it was too late to hit the delete button, nine months later a
blessed little Pop-Up appeared and said: You've Got Male."
Is there more to the story than that? What does God have to say
to help us experience everything He had in mind when He created in His
image as "male and female"? Join us this Sunday and
find out.

incredible advice about the birds and the bees"

The office receives calls from
members wanting to utilize the talents of our own
congregation. Recently we received a call from a member wanting to
know who in our congregation they could hire to do electrical work in
their home. Unfortunately, we do not know who to refer these
callers to. We would like to add a section to the directory that
lists your profession / talent with contact information so our members
can use your business, place of business or talent when they have needs
for hire. Email the office with your information.

Michael
& Sarrah Lynn Havens - Ambassadors to Reed College
School is starting soon at
Reed, along with the Haven's vital ministry to students.
They're busy already and are greatly encouraged by returning
students. As they look forward to a new year of ministry, they
ask for intercession on behalf of the students and staff they will
interact with in the coming year - both believers and unbelievers
- and also that God would continue to grant them energy and a
faithful focus to share His love and message with the campus.
Persecuted Church (Used
with permission by Voice of the Martyrs)
Nigeria:
On July 26, 12 Christians were killed, including three pastors, after
members of the Islamic extremist group Boko Haram launched attacks on
police and government bases. The violence, which began in Bauchi state,
spread to Borno, Kano and Yobe states. Churches were set ablaze and
several people were abducted, including Christians. Many believers were
threatened with death if they refused to convert to Islam. According to
media reports, assailants behead three pastors: Pastors Sabo Yukubu, Sylvester
Akpan and Pastor George Orji. The assailants were reportedly acting on
the instruction of the extremist group's leader, Mohammed Yusuf. Yusuf
was later killed by authorities. The militants attempted to force the
pastors to convert to Islam, but they refused to abandon their faith.
They were then beheaded by guards who shouted "Allah Akbar" and
fired several gunshots into the air in celebration. These recent reports
of persecution in Northern Nigeria reflect the trials believers endure. Pray
God will comfort the families of those killed in these attacks. Pray the
peace of Christ will rule the hearts and minds of Nigerian Christians in
the face of ongoing threats and danger.
Church Family
Michelle
and Kimberly Todd -
Please pray for a safe return and a
smooth adjustment back to life
