This Sunday ~
How powerful is love? It was April 6, 2000
when Dennis Lewis, 37, and Angela Turner,20, on a crime spree, came to
the house of Ricky and Toni Sexton and held them hostage. What
would you do? The Sextons started loving Dennis and Angela.
They began to listen to their captor's troubles, the fed them, showed
them Gospel videos, read to them from the Bible, prayed and even cried
with them.
When the police came and the negotiations began, Ricky Sexton refused
his own release with Dennis and Angela suggested ending the standoff by
committing suicide. Before they surrendered, Angela left $135 and
a note for the Sextons that said, "Thank you for your hospitality.
We really appreciate it. I hope he (Ricky) gets better.
Wish all luck and love. Please accept this, It really is
all we have to offer. Love, Angela and Dennis."
Is love strong enough to love people when they are unlovely? Is
love tough enough to handle difficult people? How do you love
those who seem impossible to love? Join us this Sunday as we see
how it can be done.

The office receives calls from
members wanting to utilize the talents of our own
congregation. Recently we received a call from a member wanting to
know who in our congregation they could hire to do electrical work in
their home. Unfortunately, we do not know who to refer these
callers to. We would like to add a section to the directory that
lists your profession / talent with contact information so our members
can use your business, place of business or talent when they have needs
for hire. Email the office with your information.

Colin
Fenn recently returned from Sierra
Leone on a mission trip with Royal Servants. Come this Sunday to
hear his report on all the amazing things God did in and through him and
the rest of his team as the shared the Gospel through drama, music and
puppetry. If you want to hear more, there will be a welcome home
BBQ at his home that same afternoon from 2-6pm. Please RSVP with
the Fenn's.
Some praises and prayer requests:
Praises
for:
Thank
you to all that supported me through your giving and your prayers!
There
were over 1,000 people who responded to the Gospel!
It was
amazing to see the daily miracles that were doing on around us wherever
we went.
Pray
for:
That I
would keep my spirit of thankfulness.
For the
people of Sierra Leone as the country's economy continues to struggle and
for the Gospel to continue to be spread and not blended with other
faiths, which is often the case.
Persecuted Church (Used
with permission by Voice of the Martyrs)
Nigeria: On July 26, 12 Christians were
killed, including three pastors, after members of the Islamic extremist
group Boko Haram launched attacks on police and government bases. The
violence, which began in Bauchi state, spread to Borno, Kano and Yobe
states. Churches were set ablaze and several people were abducted,
including Christians. Many believers were threatened with death if they
refused to convert to Islam. According to media reports, assailants
behead three pastors: Pastors Sabo Yukubu, Sylvester Akpan and Pastor
George Orji. The assailants were reportedly acting on the instruction of
the extremist group's leader, Mohammed Yusuf. Yusuf was later killed by
authorities. The militants attempted to force the pastors to convert to
Islam, but they refused to abandon their faith. They were then beheaded
by guards who shouted "Allah Akbar" and fired several gunshots
into the air in celebration. These recent reports of persecution in
Northern Nigeria reflect the trials believers endure. Pray God will
comfort the families of those killed in these attacks. Pray the peace of
Christ will rule the hearts and minds of Nigerian Christians in the face
of ongoing threats and danger.
