Dear Friends,
"So it begins." This
line is from one of my favorite movies and I (David) use it often
whenever I start something new. Today (Monday, June 4th) is the
start of travel season for the Love family. Over the next few
months we are going to be traveling a lot and I am excited for the
ministry opportunities to which our travels will take us.

As I start this prayer letter I am
sitting in the airport waiting to fly to Slovakia. The reasons
I'm excited about this trip are 1) It is my first official trip
coordinating short-term ministries here in Europe and 2) because I get
to help a missionary colleague working in Austria that will be
hosting increasing numbers of "mid-term" missionaries (3
months to 3 years).
We will be meeting with another
missionary in Slovakia
who has built an entire ministry to students by effectively recruiting,
training and mentoring mid-term workers. My hope is that we can
learn from his experiences (good and bad) and as a result be more
effective in using mid-termers for ministry
in Austria and
throughout Europe.

Next week, June 13th, our
entire family will be traveling back to the States for 8 weeks.
We will spend the summer mobilizing short-term workers and teams,
visiting churches, and strategizing with church and mission leaders
about short-term ministries.

Four weeks after we return to Europe
I will be heading back to the States for a WorldVenture
conference in Colorado
focusing on short-term ministries. This too is an exciting opportunity
as short-term coordinators from around the world (as well as leaders
from our mission) will get together and pray, plan and strategize about
"best practices" for mobilizing short-term workers for
long-term ministry impact.

No, I won't be spending a lot of time
in my own bed over the next four months, but I am, nevertheless, very
excited about what God is going to do during all of our ministry
travels.

- For God to raise up more short-term workers and teams to
meet the ministry needs we are identifying here in Europe.
- For
God's Kingdom to be advanced as we work to mobilize effective
short-termers.
- For God to direct our
minds as we strategize with church and mission leaders about
short-term ministries.
- For our family,
especially Kailyn and Daneille, during this time of traveling with
lots of hellos and goodbyes.
