Ministry Overview:
After devoting their first year in Germany to full-time German language study, the Loves anticipate developing strategies to facilitate effective and meaningful short-term missions experiences 1) for churches that support and send out short-term teams, 2) for individuals who want to experience cross-cultural ministry, and 3) for missionaries whose ministries will benefit from short-term participation.

Primary Ministry Focus: Coordinating short-term ministries throughout Europe.
Major Challenges: The Loves will be working with people from many nationalities, backgrounds and cultures. Discernment is needed to foster understanding and identify ministry needs.
Prayer Focus: Pray for discernment in identifying ministry opportunities and for effectiveness in coordinating short-term ministries.

Ministry Overview:
Our vision: A movement of God among the youth of Eastern Europe that finds its home in the local church and transforms society. Our mission: To equip young leaders in Eastern Europe to fulfill Christ’s commission. We want to see passionate followers of Jesus Christ, with a vision to reach and disciple their generation. We prayerfully accomplish these things by providing: 9 month Internship programs for national leaders, Training week-ends for leaders and ministry teams, Evangelism training week-ends, Summer Camps, Hands-on Discipleship of young leaders and new believers, Bible study and leadership training materials, and leadership training facilities (in the Czech Republic this is at Malenovice).

The Czech Republic is a nation that is profoundly secular and quite skeptical of religion. Some say it is the most atheistic nation on earth, with the highest percentage of people convinced that God and a spiritual world does not even exist. The evangelical church is tiny, making up only less than one third of one percent in a country of 10 and a half million. But the church is growing, and there is a renewed interest in spiritual things, especially among young people. A new generation of leaders has risen up since the revolution, and their efforts are bringing significant change to the spiritual climate of the country. The greatest need is for evangelism of the lost while the doors of interest are still open, and for equipping a new generation of leaders for the church. The harvest is ripe, but the workers are very few.

Pray for courage and innovation in evangelism, and that the Church would not fall into complacency or be wooed by the god of materialism. Pray for an army of workers to be released into the harvest field, and for mobilization of young people for the task of building Christ’s Kingdom.

Prayer Requests for 2007:

  • Exit 316, the nationally aired Christian program for young people being aired here in Czech, began its second round of shows in January 2007. The first 17 episodes were viewed by between 120,000 and 170,000 people each week. We are praying that the next 26 episodes will be viewed by twice as many people as it runs through the end of June 2007. God is using this unprecedented TV program to reach thousands of people who otherwise would not come in contact with biblical principles or hear the stories of believers around their country. Pray that they would turn their hearts to the Lord and be saved. Also pray for the 300+ evangelistic small groups that are using this show as a means for sharing Christ with their friends and family.
  • After almost two years of preparation, a new tool of personal discipleship called “Elements” will be launched in 2007. Using testimonies of young people across Eastern Europe, this study comes in the form of a DVD with printable student notes. With a special emphasis on who we are “in Christ”, this tool is being produced in 11 languages and will make it possible for new believers to easily become grounded in their faith. Pray for our production team as they finish it up, and as it is distributed throughout the countries and into the hands of new believers.
  • Preparations are already underway for JV English camps in summer 2007. Pray for our evangelism team as they prepare for over 60 youth camps, for the 700+ short term workers from the States who will come to serve at these camps, and for the churches here in Eastern Europe who will invite students to come so that they might hear the Gospel. Pray that it would be a rich harvest for the Kingdom this summer!
  • From February 26th through March 2nd, Connie will be leading a retreat for 36 JV missionary women. Pray for a time of refreshment, encouragement, blessing and deepening of our walks with God. This is a key event for our women each year as they come away from their places of ministry to be fed by the Lord.
  • Dave is traveling extensively from January through March. Pray for blessing on each event, meeting, service and conference that he will be at. And pray for Connie and the kids as he is gone, that the Lord will care for all their needs.
