Ministry Overview:
Since 1978, Doug and Dee Valenzuela have served with WorldVenture in Napoli, Italy. Currently they are involved in a number of ministries including a church planting movement that now has three churches. These churches reach out to inner-city residents many of whom have led difficult lives, some have been in gangs, others involved in crime and many are drug addicts.
The Valenzuelas have also seen the Lord work through large-scale evangelistic events. Through these ministries they have worked hand in hand with local government agencies and are beginning to see them come to the ministries. In addition to evangelism and church planting, Doug and Dee run the Old Mill camp as well as three centers that minister to the elderly. Their church now operates a pre-school through elementary school.
The Valenzuelas’ primary emphasis has been focused on people. Through the years, they have used many different approaches to reach the Italians with the gospel. Films shown in the city’s largest theater, open-air meetings, month-long tent meetings, and scores of Bible studies have all been used by the Valenzuelas to share the gospel with Italians.
